#54 Leap and The Net Will Appear w/ Andrea Mesa

Guess what? I’m writing a stand up comedy bit.

To perform live.

In front of hundreds of people.

This is literally at the top of my list of scary things to do in my lifetime.

I don't even know how it became one of my bucket list items. And tbh, I wasn’t even sure if I would ever actually do it. It just seemed like one of those scary, cool things you say you would do “someday” in the future.

Well, that day is approaching and I'm excited and terrified at the same time.

What if no one laughs? What if I tell a joke and all you can hear are crickets? What if I get heckled?

I know I won’t pull a Will Smith and slap anyone BUT, I fear I won’t be able to hold my composure and regulate my emotions well in such a stressful situation.

Regardless of what happens, good or bad, I’ll have faced a gigantic fear of mine despite the huge risk of embarrassing myself and bruising my ego.

And how cool is that?

In my podcast episode with Andrea Mesa, she talks about facing her fears and big goals in the journey to entrepreneurship. She tells the story about how she almost quit after working with her first client which turned out to be a nightmare. Andrea pushed through and ended up moving away from her hometown of Miami across the Atlantic to start her life and business from scratch in Barcelona, where she didn’t know a single soul.

And throughout the ups and downs, the risk and uncertainty, the one thing that helped ground her was staying connected to her purpose.
