#60 How to Live a Healthy and Balanced Life with Ayurveda w/ Charlotte Skogsberg

A few years ago I was in a dark place. Overworking was my jam and I was averaging about 70 hours a week. I gained 15 pounds in three months (which is a lot for someone who’s only 5 feet tall) and I was pretty much living in isolation, in a rural area with no social scene for miles.

I basically worked, slept and ate. That was the entirety of my day. I hardly interacted with anyone.

There was a man in my life. We had just gone through a traumatic breakup which sent me spiraling into a state of anxiety and depression. And from this very low place, I entered into an eating disorder, where I would binge eat to comfort myself and purge after the guilt set in.

I felt out of control and out of touch. My worthiness level was a negative 100 and I was too ashamed to ask for help. It was awful.

My life was out of whack and completely out of balance. I wasn’t sure if it was the comfort food I was eating, the extreme hours I was working or my very low emotional state. Looking back, I realize it was a combination of everything, with no nearby solution.

Eventually I got out of my rut. I sought out a solid support system: a therapist, awesome friends and a whole lotta surfing.

In my interview with Charlotte Skogsberg, she shares how to live a healthy and balanced life through Ayurveda, Psychology and Yoga.

She explains in detail about the science of Ayurveda, the three different body types that we each have a combination of, how to use food as medicine and ways you can heal your life from the inside out.
